Unleashing the Reconcilers' Imagination

The Remerge Institute is an inter-disciplinary institute uniquely positioned within the inventive community-building nonprofit, Remerge. We bring together academic institutions with industry partners and community stakeholders to create real solutions to real community-based problems. The Institute integrates the academic resources of the university with the innovative practices of place-based community building organizations allowing students, from the first day of class, to be immersed in real-world projects, gaining the understanding and skills needed to drive meaningful change in the places they serve.

Learning Experiences

  • Graduate Education

    Earn a Graduate Certificate in Community-Building as a stand-alone academic certificate or in conjunction with a Master of Arts in Christian Ministry or a Master of Organizational Leadership.

  • Undergraduate Education

    Undergraduate students have the opportunity to take a for-credit experiential course introducing them to community engagement and collaborative human-centered design.

  • Continuing Education

    Made up of non-degree courses and workshops, learn essential mindsets, skills, tools, and practices that will help you to make greater positive impact in your community for the long haul.

  • Remerge Fellows

    Students completing the Institute curriculum have the opportunity to apply to the Fellows program to receive mentorship and resources to further develop their skills and implement their solutions.

  • Service Learning

    Students travel to Atlanta to learn about and participate in Remerge’s work toward building communities of peace. Reflect on the strategy of Remerge and their partners and leave inspired and ready to make a difference in your community.

  • The Arena

    The Arena is a talk-back series exploring a wide range of topics effecting the building of flourishing communities conducted by experts actively working on solutions for the topics discussed.

  • Is the Remerge Institute an accredited college?

    The Institute itself grants non-degree continuing education and certificates directly. For undergraduate and graduate academic credit, the Institute partners with Anderson University in Indiana, which issues the official transcript and credit for for-credit coursework.

  • How do I get academic credit?

    To grant official academic credit, the Institute partners with Anderson University in Indiana: when you complete a for-credit course or certificate, Anderson University issues the transcript and credit. If you're already enrolled at another college, you can typically transfer that credit back to your home school (check with your registrar first). An online application must be completed BEFORE taking a course. Clicking our "Apply" button will start an application to both the Remerge Institute and Anderson University. Prefer no academic credit? Our Continuing Education courses and certificates are non-degree and don't require a college application at all.

  • Where are courses held?

    The majority of courses are online, synchronous courses. Occasionally we offer courses or workshops in-person. In such a case we will indicate clearly on the course page.

  • What does the admissions process look for?

    Admissions is holistic rather than based on one factor. Applications are evaluated across four areas: character and personal context, academic record, intellectual curiosity, and depth of extracurricular or work/family responsibilities. A minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.0 is generally expected, though the Director may use discretion for applicants below that.

  • What do I need to submit my application?

    For-credit applicants must fill out an online application. All applicants should send a current resume, three letters of recommendation, and a personal statement addressing why they want to pursue this education and what they'll contribute to the learning community. Applicants may also be asked to complete an interview.

  • I'm already a student at another college. Can I still take a Remerge course for credit?

    Yes; if you plan to transfer credit back to your home institution, check with your school first to confirm they'll accept it before enrolling.
